Styling products are a necessary part of our lives. However, they do have one pitfall. In time, they can cause a buildup and dull our hair. Of course, you can buy a clarifying shampoo to solve the problem or you could try this simple homemade clarifying shampoo recipe of mine. Making your own is handy and will save you money with how little you need to whip it up.
All you need to have on hand is a box of baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) and whatever shampoo you are using to prepare your own homemade clarifying shampoo. The amount will vary depending on how much hair you have, but try this formula. Later, you can adapt and reduce or increase the measurements to suit your head.
The reason that baking soda is so effective in this recipe is because it neutralizes the normal acid that is always present on the scalp as it cleans. Due to its high alkali pH, baking soda gives the hair a thorough deep cleansing of all grime and hair product residues that can still be lingering in your hair.
What you will discover is how much softer and cleaner your hair will feel once you try this. Give my homemade clarifying shampoo recipe a try and see how much lovelier your hair will look. You will definitely notice a big difference and be happy that you can across it.
Homemade Clarifying Shampoo
1 tablespoon of baking soda
2-1/2 tablespoons of shampoo
Measure out about one tablespoon of baking soda and add it to about 2-1/2 tablespoons of shampoo.
Be sure the baking soda gets thoroughly mixed before shampooing with it.
This lathers up even more due to the soda and will remove that styling residue cheaply.
