Cucumber is a very soothing skin care ingredient for my DIY Sensitive Skin Facial Mask.

 

My dry complexion has a tendency to become sensitive at times. Why it randomly acts up always was a mystery to me. Being the case, I often had to stop using my current skin care turn to a DIY treatment to relieve the tightness without irritating it further. My DIY Sensitive Skin Facial Mask gently hydrates while calming irritation with its mix of soothing natural ingredients.

I use cucumber for its vitamin C, caffeic acid and polysaccharides for its anti-inflammatory powers to calm the skin and great minerals like silica, which helps rebuild collagen. Cucumber also helps to attract moisture. Besides all that beneficial skin help, its natural fragrance is refreshing.

Another ingredient that I use for this DIY Sensitive Skin Facial Mask is honey for being a humectant, an antibacterial and for how well it soothes irritation.

Next, I put in some plain, whole milk Greek yogurt for its lactic acid, an alpha hydroxy acid. The reason I prefer the whole milk variety over the nonfat is because it has more fat and protein to help exfoliate the skin more thoroughly while smoothing, soothing and mildly bleaching.

Strawberries are also important for their vitamin C and plenty of the alpha hydroxy fruit acids for clearing away dead skin cells and brightening the complexion. They also can help keep skin younger and stop collagen from breaking down due to their ellagic acid, a natural phenol antioxidant.

Finally, I use a few grapes for their abundant antioxidants and phytonutrients as well as anti-inflammatory properties. They also have the natural phenol antioxidant of ellagic acid and some amazing polyphenols to replenish suffering skin.

DIY Sensitive Skin Facial Mask

 

½ of a cucumber
1 tablespoon of plain, whole milk Greek yogurt
1-1/2 teaspoons of honey
3 strawberries
3 grapes

Scoop out the pulp from half of the cucumber or throw it in your blender or food processor to mash it along with the strawberries and grapes.  You don’t need to make it quite a liquid. You just want it smooth enough to mix with those blended ingredients with the other remaining ones.

Place the mixture on your freshly cleansed face and leave it on for about twenty minutes before rinsing away with tepid water.

Your skin will feel calmed, fresher and softer.
