DIY Congestion Support Roll On Recipe

DIY Congestion Support Roll On ingredients
Simply Earth Essential Oils Recipe Box sent me everything I needed to help my congested guy breathe better.

When I found the Breathe Easy essential oil and the peppermint essential oil in my first Simply Earth Essential Oils Recipe Box, I never thought I would be whipping up the DIY Congestion Support Roll On that arrived in this month’s assortment of home remedies. However, my guy got contaminated at work and brought home a cold with a red, runny nose and coughing that Rudolf would appreciate.

We do keep a jar of Vicks-Vapo Rub on hand for times like this when it gets hard to breathe, but it happened to be expired when I noticed. I also usually keep a bottle of eucalyptus essential oil, but I was making other recipes and used it before restocking. I almost thought I would have to go to the drugstore, but I remembered I had the makings for clearing his congestion right in front of me thanks to this first box that Simply Earth Essential Oils Recipe Box provided.

Simply Earth’s DIY Congestion Support Roll On recipe has peppermint essential oil for its powerful menthol aroma for dealing with a stuffy head. Peppermint affects breathing in how it calms inflammation of the nasal and bronchial passages so the exchange of air isn’t so difficult.

The recipe also called for Simply Earth’s Breathe Easy essential oil, which is a combination of fir needle, frankincense, cedarwood, and myrrh. In aromatherapy, this foursome of woody essential oils is a way to stimulate serotonin in the brain sufficiently enough to trigger melatonin production and subdue inflammation, opening air passages and loosening mucous through its calming vapors.

This is what arrived in the Bonus Box that helped complete their DIY Congestion Support Roll On and other recipes in the December 2018 box.

Besides being anti-inflammatory to improve breathing, frankincense helps manage pain stress levels as it allows you to relax and get needed sleep to disinfecting.

Myrrh is another useful essential oil when congested to help with breathing and keeping airways open. It can also control coughing and reduce phlegm when you’re suffering from a bad cough or cold.

If you’re on a blood thinner like Coumadin or taking diabetes medications, you may want to check with your doctor first before using myrrh even if just used on your skin.

Cedarwood essential oil has a variety of beneficial qualities from being antibacterial, antiseptic, antispasmodic, antifungal to being an expectorant, and sedative. It also can repel moths and other insects to mildew. However, cedarwood oil should be used with caution because it is quite potent. Never apply this directly to your skin without a carrier oil, especially if you are pregnant or taking medications.

Fir needle essential oil has a lot of active compounds. One in particular is helping with muscle pain being a natural analgesic. Another is what it can do for loosening mucous when its vapors are inhaled.

When we have sore throats or a cough, we find gargling and then swallowing my apple-cider vinegar drink with some Tabasco sauce to warm up the throat and chest definitely helps as well. Apple cider vinegar is an old folk remedy. Being antibacterial and having a high acidic content, it is powerful enough to kill even strep germs. Using this and some other home remedies have saved us from visiting the doctor when we were under the weather. Between our apple-cider drink, resting in bed and using this DIY Congestion Support Roll On when he became too stuffy helped him through.
