DIY Neck Cream Is Pampering Anti-Aging Skin Care

To give you a better idea, the average thickness of the skin on the neck is 1.6 millimeters. If you compare that degree of skin to a section of your face such as the lower part of the forehead, it can have about three times the thickness. What this amounts to is the neck can wrinkle even faster than the face since less collagen is present. Another sad fact about the neck is that it does not have the same glands to help with moisture like the face. For this reason, our poor necks should never be ignored if we intend to do our best in the anti-aging department.

This anti-aging neck cream recipe uses a combination of oil and butters to maximize the effectiveness of how those emollients smooth and saturate the skin to keep the area holding up better from those unwanted signs of age.

You’ll find wheat germ oil for its contribution of vitamins for anti-aging with antioxidants such as vitamins A and E, B6, folic acid, D along with fatty acids. It always is the type of oil that absorbs easily into the skin.

Another perfect ingredient in this DIY neck cream is cocoa butter for all its healthy saturated fats (mainly stearic acid and palmitic acid) and antioxidants for hydrating the skin. However, you don’t want to use just any cocoa butter but 100% pure cocoa butter. The difference is the pure cocoa butter was never heated to the same high temperatures as the other forms of cocoa butter when manufactured that could compromise some of its healthy fats.  This pure form will do your skin the most good with how it thoroughly supports it.

Coconut oil is yet another highly welcomed ingredient with its predominately saturated fats for moisturizing and softening for this DIY beauty recipe that it provides to the mix.

Shea butter is a very rich oil derived from the nuts of the African karite tree. This emollient is abundant with oleic acid, stearic acid and linoleic acid. What is amazing about shea butter is not only being superb for moisturizing, but it is also helpful for its antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties within its structure.

Finally, you need a little bit of distilled water.  I like to use distilled water over plain tap water to better prolong the shelf life of my neck cream recipe.

I like this DIY neck cream recipe because it delivers heavier duty moisture for the neck to maintain a more youthful neck. You will also find it is less expensive than some commercial neck creams, but just as wonderful. Try it for yourself and you’ll see!

DIY Neck Cream

½ cups wheat germ oil
2 teaspoons of 100% pure cocoa butter
2 teaspoons of shea butter
2 teaspoons of coconut oil
1/4 cup of distilled water

Heat some water at the bottom of your double boiler.

At the top of your double boiler, add the rest of the ingredients and simmer until ingredients melt to blend.

Take off the heat and add the distilled water before pouring into a clean jar with a lid.

Thanks for the recipe. I try to take care of all of my skin. The older I get I am the more diligent I am though I started really moisturizing a lot when I was about 20.

You are correct! If you look at the neck area you can often tell who has had ‘work’ done.It really is a tough area. I am showing my age there.

This DIY Neck Cream recipe sounds wonderful to try. I am always worried about my neck area since I have had a lot of sun burns when I was younger.
