DIY Cinnamon Scalp Invigorating Treatment

Cinnamon Scalp Invigorating Treatment

Parting the hair in sections when it is dry helps for better distribution when you massage my DIY Cinnamon Scalp Invigorating Treatment in for the best results.

The mention of cinnamon always reminds me of something delicious baking like my cinnamon rolls. Yet, this aromatic spice that originated from the inner bark of the cinnamon tree has quite a few proven health benefits from what it can do for treating bronchitis, diabetes to gastrointestinal problems, toothaches to speeding up metabolism. Be that as it may, cinnamon along with other beneficial ingredients in my cinnamon scalp invigorating treatment can help stimulate the scalp with improved blood flow to hair follicles for accelerating hair growth and strengthening it as well.

For this DIY cinnamon scalp invigorating treatment, I use cinnamon leaf (not the cinnamon bark) essential oil for this recipe. This is the less potent and expensive of the two, but it also has remarkable antibacterial and antioxidant properties. The reason I prefer the cinnamon leaf essential oil is because it is the safer option if you are sensitive like I am and more concentrated than using powdered cinnamon from your kitchen. Needless to say, you need to be careful and always dilute it with a carrier oil before applying it to your skin or risk a permanent allergic reaction.

My advice to avoid any allergy related problems when working with essential oils is to always do a patch test first. Mix two drops of the essential oil with a half teaspoon of your carrier oil and apply the mixture with a cotton swab inside the crook of your arm that you just washed. Don’t wash it off, but let it remain for about 48 hours like you do when you color your hair at home. If you feel any burning, redness, swelling, etc., you must wash it off immediately!  If this happens, this in an allergic reaction.  Do not use the product.

The carrier oil that I use to make this cinnamon scalp invigorating treatment is extra virgin olive oil. Due to its amazing components as a rich source of monounsaturated essential fatty acids, vitamin E, oleic acid, squalene, etc., this oil really contributes to any scalp problems from itching to inflammation. Olive oil also has the power to permeate the hair instead of just coating for total moisture saturation. Even more exciting according to what one study found is that olive oil with its oleuropein can help hair growth.

Raw honey is another ingredient I found valuable for this home remedy. This is the purer form over what you may have in your pantry for cooking with the best preserved phytonutrients and assisting with antibacterial and antifungal power to rejuvenate the scalp and health of the hair.

Since bentonite clay has a distinct negative charge like any clay for drawing out toxins, I included it for clearing out trapped dead cells and impurities from the scalp and hair follicles.

Baking soda was the ingredient in my cinnamon scalp invigorating treatment for extra gentle scalp exfoliation as a final step to a healthier scalp and better hair.

When you are ready to give yourself a treatment, you want to apply it to your dry scalp and not all over your hair.

This cinnamon scalp invigorating treatment may sound messy and extra trouble for all its strength and hair growing benefits, but I also love the exceptional way this DIY recipe clarifies the scalp before I plan to color my hair at home. You don’t have to believe me, just try it and you’ll see.

DIY Cinnamon Scalp Invigorating Treatment

10 drops of cinnamon leaf essential oil
2 tablespoons of virgin olive oil
1 tablespoon of baking soda
1 teaspoon of raw honey
½ teaspoons of bentonite clay

Mix the cinnamon leaf essential oil with the olive oil to combine before mixing in the raw honey to incorporate in a small bowl.

Stir in the baking soda and clay last.

Part the dry hair in sections first before massaging the treatment mixture in.

After you finish what you have in your bowl, then get some plastic wrap to wrap around your head before covering with a towel.

Allow the cinnamon scalp invigorating treatment to remain on your head about 12 minutes before shampooing and conditioning as usual.
