Biscuits are always nice additions to replace bread or a roll at your dinner table. However, when you add Cheddar cheese to the equation and just the right herbs and spices, what you get are something extraordinary that goes above and beyond the ordinary biscuit. This particular Cheddar cheese biscuit recipe is especially wonderful and savory with all its Cheddar cheese helped along with rosemary, crushed red pepper flakes and just a sprinkling of basil and black pepper to make any meal special with how the flavor pops in your mouth.
Another thing that is important to me and something that you also should love is how easy my recipe for these biscuits is. This is your basic just add oil to gently bind it along with some milk to the dry ingredients. No need to pull out your electric mixer because just requires stirring the ingredients a bit with a fork to moisten them.
Most of the work of my Cheddar cheese biscuits recipe is rolling out the dough on a sheet of waxed paper into a circle and then cutting it to form triangles. Of course, you don’t have to shape this dough in this way. You could also just shape little balls of the size biscuit preferred and bake on your greased baking sheets.
I forgot to mention that you can use any variety of Cheddar cheese for this recipe. I prefer the sharp, but mild is tasty as well. Whatever type of Cheddar cheese that happens to be in your refrigerator will work out well for you without compromising this biscuit’s delicious taste.
The hardest part is waiting for these biscuits to finish baking once that delicious aroma starts to waft through your kitchen.
I also make another recipe for cheese biscuits that I hope that you will also try that is quite delicious. If you are as fond of biscuits as yours truly, you might also want to try my drop biscuits , which are never disappointing.
Cheddar Cheese Biscuit Recipe

This recipe for my Cheddar cheese biscuits is especially wonderful with Cheddar cheese helped along with rosemary, crushed red pepper flakes and just a sprinkling of basil and black pepper to make any meal special with how the flavor pops in your mouth.
- 1-3/4 cups of Cheddar cheese grated
- 2-1/2 cups sifted flour
- 1/3 cup of canola oil
- 3 teaspoons of baking powder leveled
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1 tablespoon of sugar
- 3/4 cup of milk
- ½ teaspoons of crushed red pepper
- ½ teaspoons of dried rosemary
- sprinkle of dried basil about 1/4 teaspoon
- sprinkle of black pepper about 1/4 teaspoon
-
Sift the flour, baking power, salt, sugar, red pepper, and rosemary together in your mixing bowl.
-
Stir together in another mixing bowl, the oil, milk, and grated cheese until well combined before adding to the dry ingredients.
-
Gently stir the combined ingredients with your fork to mix and then shaping into a pliable dough ball.
-
Lightly flour your working surface or a sheet of waxed paper to roll out a large circle.
I cut a big X across for four big pieces and further divide with a line across or another X for eight pieces.
-
Transfer your shaped biscuits to a greased cookie sheet where you finish by sprinkling with the dried basil and black pepper before baking in a 350-degree oven for about 15 to 20 minutes, depending on how your oven is regulated.
-
Test with a toothpick, slender knife or a cake tester to see if anything sticks telling if your biscuits are done. They should be lightly golden brown on the bottom.
ENJOY!
