Committing yourself to any exercise program is not always the easiest thing to do–at least for me. Driving to a gym to workout can take time that you can’t afford to spare as well as run into money after a while. Therefore, I prefer to do my workout at home where I can sweat and feel more comfortable as I exert myself trying to get in shape. The problem was I tend to dive right in, but get bored quickly with my workout until I discovered these tips to stay motivated while working out at home.
The reason that I kept losing that initial enthusiasm with my workout was because I considered what I was putting my body through as work. Instead of forcing myself to do so many set repetitions of an exercise at a certain time every day, I changed my strategy. What I found that made me stick to those exercises was to make my workout time more fun by working out to music. Once you find a great beat to synchronize your body movements too, your mind has something else to concentrate on to distract you from the exercise. Before you know it, your workout becomes enjoyable and almost like a challenge to see how well you keep up with the beat like a dance routine.
This is not to say that having one perfect song to use with a workout can keep you exercising and stop workout failure. To stay motivated, I would rotate the music with a play list to keep myself interested. Tuning into the beats kept the thoughts of my physical movements out of my mind while concentrating just on music.
If the weather was nice, I started taking more walks especially after dinner. At first, I just went around the block of our neighborhood to get used to walking. The more walking I did, the further I ventured without even realizing how far my feet carried me.
Once I started seeing the first pounds melt off and fitting better into certain outfits, I became hooked on what I was doing. My method to stay motivated while working out a home may sound simple, but it is one that I have been sticking with for the longest amount of time so far.
I enjoy walks around our area also. I think that is more motivating to ma than anything!
