For example, if you tend to sleep on your stomach, then you should be sleeping on a flatter pillow so your head doesn’t curve up. Anyone with allergies like myself was always advised to avoid down pillows. Even though they feel so soft and cozy, the feathers were thought to attract dust mites. By comparison, synthetic pillows were thought to be safer sleeping alternatives.
But the more time those synthetic pillows have dominated the market, the more that opinion may be changing with all the different filling materials. One study pointed out that the synthetics could be worse due to how porous some of the construction materials could be for accumulating dust mites, mold, etc.
Something else interesting is the variety of pillow that can cool from within their foam construction. If you’re going through menopause, you might want to try one. You could land up sleeping better if night sweats are your problem.
