Being a beauty blogger has opened my eyes more to what we regularly use in commercial skin care products. If you want to save money, keep your skin healthy and radiant but don’t think it’s possible without a commercial high-priced product, then you need to try my DIY face oil. My recipe can be adapted to your complexion type and may make a believer out of you that homemade beauty is just another beauty option.
Making my DIY face oil recipe involves just two steps. First, you need to decide on a carrier oil that would be the best match for your type of skin. Then your second task is selecting the right essential oil to nourish your complexion and resolve beauty issues.
The best carrier oils for normal skin are ones such as jojoba oil, sweet almond oil, grapeseed, argan oil, and apricot seed oil to use in the base. These are the ones that possess a lighter consistency for the skin while contributing anti-aging and healing benefits.
If your skin is more combination or tends to border on oily, then you probably should stick with grapeseed oil or the jojoba oil. Of course, there are a few others that you can use and I listed them in an earlier post, but those two are better suited.
The reason that I am so fond of grapeseed oil is because of its rich abundance of linoleic acid for decongesting what is trapped in the pores for keeping the skin more normalized and clearer. On the same note, jojoba oil has a striking resemblance to the skin’s own sebum. This unique quality is what can fool the skin into not producing more oil to keep it satisfied and balanced.
On the other hand, your skin could be dry like mine, which calls for a different approach. Lately, oils such as sweet almond oil, coconut oil, avocado oil, and jojoba oil, and depending on the essential oil used are the ones that I have been having the most luck with. For the best results, I found that it helps to buy a brand that is sporting the USDA organic seal to show its certification for purity.
For the essential oils in my DIY face oil recipe, I recommend either using Roman or blue chamomile oil or rosehip oil for the dry skin version. Chamomile helps calms and control any inflammation, gently moisturize, heal, and fight bacteria. Rosehip oil is also wonderful for maximizing skin health due to all its fatty acids, particularly linoleic acid and linolenic acid. These powerful acids have the ability to burrow deeper into the skin cells for more thorough absorption of its antioxidants.
Normal to oily skin is better served with rosemary essential oil or clary sage oil in my opinion. The rosemary essential oil can calm the skin since it has anti-inflammatory properties as well as antibacterial, antifungal, and pain relieving benefits. It also can help the skin’s anti-aging efforts for tightening and assisting elasticity in how it works to improve circulation and blood flow. Furthermore, rosemary essential oil can also serve to protect skin from free radical damage.
Clary sage essential oil also has antibacterial, antifungal and healing components that also can do your complexion a lot of good when troubled.
A dark glass bottle with a dropper applicator is ideal for storing your DIY face oil. The darkness can help preserve the formula’s integrity from light deterioration compared to a clear bottle so keep that in mind.
You might be surprised at what a simple healthy change to your beauty routine can mean to your complexion. Give my DIY face oil a chance and only then will you believe in what feeding your skin healthy ingredients can do.
