Cajun Seasoning Recipe With Cumin

Cajun-Seasoning-Recipe-Ingredients

If you love that zesty bolt of extra flavor you get from Cajun seasoning when you add to your seafood, chicken or vegetables, then you will appreciate my recipe. My version is a bit different from what you may expect from Cajun seasoning with a secret ingredient of cumin powder, but it is very good.

Buying a ready-made Cajun seasoning may be less trouble than opening several bottles of your own herbs and spices to create your own recipe, but making your own recipe is so much better.

Why Making Your Own Cajun Seasoning Makes Sense

There are several important reasons why taking a few minutes out of your day to create this simple Cajun seasoning recipe makes sense. Not only can you save money, but you can adjust the ingredients to your own taste to avoid making your blend too hot and overly spicy.

Another advantage of making your own blend is that you can make a small amount instead of having a larger commercial version that you may not use so often for cooking compared to other herbs and spices.

In addition, you also won’t subject yourself and family from eating extra chemicals and preservatives that are usually common in commercial products.

If you like your Cajun seasoning hotter, then just add another teaspoon of the cayenne pepper to fire my recipe up further. I prefer it with extra fire, but my guy prefers this version that I sharing today.

You might notice that I use kosher salt for this recipe. The reason that I prefer this compared to regular table salt is that the granules are larger and easier for rubbing over the fish or chicken. If you don’t have kosher salt, then use half the amount of table salt.

Feel free to eliminate the salt for those trying to watch their sodium more on the order of a herbal salt-free seasoning blend.
