I really do enjoy what Splendid Spoon turns out with their creative vegan soups, smoothies and bowls, especially if you’re trying to find healthier plant-based options. For instance, I tried five new dishes from their grain bowls as well as noodle bowls that were extremely filling and very good. I also sampled five other smoothies that I never tasted before, which I will tell you about as well.
I have been having a love affair with the Indian spices and seasonings that Splendid Spoon uses such as in the Red Curry Noodles bowl. This dish has rice noodles, coconut milk, sweet potatoes, kale, curry that is just some of its tasty ingredients.
Their Roasted Cauliflower Bowl has chickpeas, spinach, cauliflower, sorghum, sesame seeds as well as sweeter ingredients like dates and currents. It does have some slight tartness from lemon juice that gives it a fine balance to the sweetness to delightfully round this vegan meal out.
The Coconut Curry Bowl was one of my favorites. This one has turmeric, chickpeas, kale, brown rice, coconut milk, and onions just to name a few ingredients. This bowl had a layer of cashews that contributed a bit of nutty sweetness and chew to its exotic seasonings.
The Roasted Brussels Sprouts bowl features walnuts, quinoa, Brussels sprouts with combination of currants and Dijon mustard as a part of the sauce. I’m usually not a huge fan of Brussels sprouts, but I got to admit this came as a flavorful surmise.
Last of the Splendid Spoon bowls that I tried this time was another new option with their Mexican Tomato Chili. This choice has tomatoes, sweet potatoes, red and chipotle peppers, kidney beans, quinoa, and carrots among other ingredients in this recipe. The sweet potatoes in this chili along with the red and chipotle peppers made it extra special.
One thing that I want to emphasize is that each bowl is for two meals. Trust me, but eating half at a time really is satisfying. I ate these for lunches and was full until dinner. Furthermore, your stomach doesn’t feel bloated.
The five smoothies I tried were the Chocolate Cherry, the Mango Guava, Orange Hibiscus, Pumpkin Spice, and the Green Matcha. My favorite was the Mango Guava that had fresh peach twist from the mango and tad of lime and the tart camu camu berry. It also had flax seeds and guava.
The Chocolate Cherry smoothie was quite good except the chocolate nibs that get stuck in your teeth and the unappetizing shade of pink-brown color.
The Orange Hibiscus smoothie had macqui berries and chia seeds besides bananas, avocados, orange juice, pea powder protein, and flax seeds, etc. I liked how the bananas complimented the orange and berries to sweeten it more.
The Pumpkin Spice smoothie is so perfect for the holiday season with its festive touch of cinnamon, pumpkin, cloves and holiday spices to its apple juice, almond butter and pea protein like drinking a liquid dessert.
The Green Matcha smoothie was another that I didn’t think I would enjoy, probably because it was very green and had matcha. It also had avocado, spirulina, dates, bananas as part of this drink that added a pleasant taste that is hard to describe, but I liked it.
Seriously, solving what to buy loved ones this year can be simpler than you think when you have Splendid Spoon meal delivery service and their weekly options from sending just breakfast with a supply of five smoothies for $65 to Breakfast/Lunch that also has five bowl choices of soups or grains plus the reset soup for $95 per week.
