You probably don’t think too much about your daily intake of flavonoids that are found in many different fruits and vegetables. However, these distinctive compounds can help with inflammation, cellular activity, fight off disease and free radicals from the environment that can age skin and compromise health due to their phytonutrients.

Increasing them cannot only benefit beauty with better skin, but it can also help the body lower blood pressure, prevent a variety of conditions such as diabetes, cancer, dementia, asthma, cataracts, to diseases affecting the heart and blood vessels.

The reason you want more of them in your life is because of their tremendous contribution of antioxidants that protect vulnerable cells from oxidative damage, which in turn also advances the progression of aging. The more that you have in your diet, the more beneficial it is for your complexion because they add another layer of protection from the environment and free radicals that can damage it. Furthermore, raising your flavonoids decreases the inflammation that can cause acne, dermatitis with dry, itchy skin, redness to slower healing wounds.

The best sources of flavonoids in foods are ones that are derived from plants such as tea, especially green tea, onions, tomatoes, kale, spinach, celery, broccoli, hot peppers, apples, berries, citrus fruits, cherries, soybeans, grapes, bananas, peaches, red wine, and dark chocolate to name some.

Apples also can help in your quest for more, but Red Delicious and Granny Smith varieties offer the most. On the other hand, McIntosh and Golden Delicious apples have the least content of those particular nutrients.

If these aren’t reasons enough why you should be consuming more, then another is what they can do to help slow-growing hair. According to some research, their phytochemicals have a component that can inhibit a certain enzyme that could be responsible for the slow-growing hair problem.
