Coffee Cream Pie That Is Easy and So Delicious

Coffee Cream Pie Piece

Coffee cream pie is not your typical pie, but one that is so utterly scrumptious and yet simple. Think of a velvet custard like texture flavored with coffee, vanilla and just enough butter to give it something special from an ordinary cream pie.

This pie recipe is another easy one that involves basically assembling the ingredients, separating eggs, then cooking the pudding mixture before dropping into a baked pie shell. In fact, you can save yourself more work by using my oil pie crust recipe.

My oil pie crust may not have the best appearance compared to recipes using shortening with beautiful fluted edges. However, my oil crust is a no-fail recipe and the only one that I use for all pies, pastries, quiche, and pot pie dough. It also is a crust that is better for health since I use canola oil or olive oil over shortening that went through the hydrogenation process to clog arteries.

You’re probably wondering why the pie doesn’t seem to have enough filling in my photo. I wanted to show you the texture first since I needed the space for piling on whipped cream and some shaved chocolate to give it a final finish. This pie is delicious plain, but the whipped cream and chocolate takes it to a new level of deliciousness.

Trust me, but you will have extra filling that you can save for making a tart or two besides a large pie like mine or two smaller pies.

      Hi Sfadl,

You want to cook it a few minutes on the medium heat until it is fairly hot, and warmed through. However, you don’t want it boiling when you slowly stir in the yolks to blend in.

Once you get the yolks incorporated, then keep stirring more frequently until it starts thickening. This won’t be real thick. It thickens more later when you pour into the pie shell and it bakes so don’t be alarmed.
