A family member of mine was recently told by his doctor to start monitoring his blood pressure at home. The doctor wanted to make sure it was under control in case they needed to adjust his medication. I have tested these in the past, but he got one for himself, the Greater Goods Smart Blood Pressure Monitor. It’s very easy to use and even comes with batteries and also has a way to plug into to an electrical outlet.

He is using this constantly and I have to be careful not to ask him questions if I hear that monitor going off. He says if talks that his blood pressure increases. The monitor is even a bluetooth model so you can download the results to your tablet or smart phone. They have the Balance Health App that you can download from the Apple App store or the Google Play store for either Apple or Android devices. He hasn’t done that and is old school and just keeps a spreadsheet. For those of you in the 21st century you track your readings more easily via bluetooth!

This is not that expensive to buy. Sometimes your insurance company will pay for the blood pressure monitor too so please check. But I found this on Amazon.com and this company makes good monitors. We were worried if this would be that accurate for home use but then another family had a visiting nurse and she used one of these portable monitors too.

Keeping your blood pressure under control is very important as pressure that’s higher can impact blood vessels and heart increasing your risk for heart attacks or strokes. It’s better to know about a problem regarding hypertension, heart health and stroke prevention so you can on your guard and keep everyone informed so all your doctors and your family know.

Keeping your blood pressure under control can be done with a variety of often inexpensive drugs. Exercise and a better diet will allow you to also keep it at a better, healthier level too. I know you love salt as do I, but too much salt will also boost your blood pressure.
