My Orange Quick Bread recipe is so shockingly simple that it will surprise you and needs only a fork and minimal stirring before pouring into your loaf pan.

  • 3 cups of flour
  • 3 teaspoons of baking powder leveled
  • grated rind from one orange about 1 tablespoon
  • 3/4 cup of sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • juice from one orange about 1/4 cup
  • 1-1/4 cups of milk
  • 2 tablespoons of canola oil
  • 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg
  • 1/8 teaspoon of salt
  1. Sift flour and then measure three cups into your mixing bowl before resifting the flour with salt and baking powder.
  2. Into that same mixing bowl with the flour ingredients, stir in the sugar, nutmeg and orange zest.
  3. In a larger measuring cup, add the milk, orange juice, vanilla and egg. Mix to combine with your fork.
  4. Pour the liquids from your measuring cup into the dry ingredients. Stir only until lightly blended.
  5. Pour the batter into a well-greased 9" x 5" loaf pan.
  6. Bake in a 350-degree oven for about 50 minutes, depending on how your oven is regulated. Use a slender knife or a cake tester to see if anything sticks determining if your orange quick bread recipe is done.
  7. Cool in the pan for about five minutes before attempting to remove.
