Peanut Butter-Chocolate Bars
These peanut butter-chocolate bars have a subtle peanut butter taste in this soft chewy bar cookie with a yummy overload of chocolate chips.

  • ½ cups of sugar
  • ½ cups of brown sugar light or dark, firmly packed
  • ½ cups or 1 stick of a margarine or butter , not spread
  • 1 cup of sifted flour
  • 3/4 cup of quick-cooking oats
  • 1/3 cup of peanut butter
  • ½ teaspoons of baking soda leveled
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla
  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 3/4 cups of semisweet chocolate chips
  1. Mix the sugars and margarine in a large mixing bowl. Beat in the egg to the mixture and combine. Next stir in the flour sifted with the baking soda, oats, peanut butter, vanilla, and salt.
  2. Grease a rectangular pan about 13 x 9 x 2 inches.
  3. Spread the creamed ingredients in the pan. Add the chocolate chips over the tops and press into the batter.
  4. Bake in a 350-degree oven for about 15-20 minutes, depending on how your oven is regulated. Test with a toothpick, cake tester or slender knife to see if anything sticks. These bars turn a golden brown when done.
  5. Cool 5 minutes and then cut into small squares.
