DIY Throat Moisturizing Cream You Need to Try

DIY Throat Moisturizing Cream
Your neck needs more tender loving care than you may realize. My DIY Throat Moisturizing Cream recipe can help keep it soft and supple.

Unlike our face, the throat has thinner and drier skin. This translates to less collagen to keep it moisturized and protected from aging since it has fewer sebaceous glands than the face that gives off any oil. Therefore, keeping the skin of the throat area lubricated and supplemented with enough moisture can help to maintain a younger appearance. The DIY throat moisturizing cream that I want to share with you is a rich homemade treatment that lavishes that vulnerable skin to keep it supple, soft and better nourished.

What I used for this recipe is coconut oil that is a humectant with emollient properties. It helps attract moisture to the area and reduce any inflammation. Besides that, it has antimicrobial properties to keep the skin protected from bacteria.

Another ingredient I used for this DIY throat moisturizing cream recipe is wheat germ oil. The reason that I chose it was because it is a rich source of vitamin E to nourish and safeguard the throat from free radical damage.  It also is great for the skin with fatty acids, vitamins A, D, and B among others.

To further enhance the skin benefits of this DIY throat cream, I added a vitamin A capsule because it has powerful antioxidants that can charge up the recipe as well.

Sweet almond oil is another ingredient that I incorporated in this recipe for all its fantastic fatty acids and vitamin E and A to keep the throat area healthy and thriving.

For firming up my DIY throat moisturizing cream, you can use either beeswax from bees or candellilla wax, which is plant based. Both work out well and run about the same price.  The beeswax has a light honey scent whereas the candellilla wax has no scent that I can detect.  If you’re allergic to honey or pollen, then the candellilla wax is a safer choice.

If scents bother you, then feel free to skip adding the lavender essential oil. I just like it for the lovely fragrance that always seems to put me in a better frame of mind just inhaling it.

This homemade throat cream doesn’t have preservatives so try to use it within two weeks. My thought is it is better to make a fresh batch than a larger one that could go rancid. I hope that you decide to give my DIY throat moisturizing cream a try as well as my other neck cream recipe because this one may surprise you in how well it also pampers the neck.

DIY Throat Moisturizing Cream

1 tablespoon of coconut oil, preferably organic
2 tablespoons of wheat germ oil
1 tablespoon of sweet almond oil
1 teaspoon of beeswax or candellilla wax
1 vitamin A capsule (10,000 IU), pricked open
3 drops lavender essential oil (optional)

Melt the ingredients except for the pricked vitamin A capsule and lavender essential oil in your double boiler just until everything is blended. Stir in the vitamin capsule contents and lavender essential oil last before pouring into a clean jar that has a lid.

Cool this cream and pour into your jar.

Apply a small amount to the neck with upward motions.

Store in the refrigerator.

ENJOY!
