Hot summer weather is no time for smothering the skin with excess layers of products. After all, this is the time we like to show more skin. Therefore, to look your best through heat and humidity helps when you have a plan. To keep yourself looking fresher, add these stay cool summer beauty tips to your routine and watch more heads turn.
Cool Summer Beauty Starts With Skin
Dealing with the heat and humidity that come along with summer is when you want to wear less makeup. This is why you want to pay particular attention to improving the condition of your skin. If exfoliation and corrective measures for issues like acne and any aftermath such as scaring or uneven texture or problems with pigmentation, then you might want to seek out professional help from a dermatologist than continue tackling a bad complexion problem on your own.
A dermatologist can prescribe medications such as antibiotics to kill bacteria or a drug called Isotretinoin that is the only proven treatment for whatever brought about the acne. Another possibility is the doctor may suggest medication to help with your hormones or advise switching birth control pills. He or she also may scrape your complexion, suggest a deep chemical peel or use a laser to resurface the skin to perfect it.
Guarding your skin from the sun is extremely important, especially when using exfoliation. Make it a point to apply a broad spectrum sunscreen of least 30 or higher if spending more time in the sun and reapply often. Wide brimmed hats also help protect your face and hair as well from becoming brittle.
What else I like to do during summer lately has been swapping primer for a facial spray before applying moisturizer and makeup. I usually rely on a rose facial spray for my dry skin for extra dewy freshness through the day. Other times, I trade it out for ginger-infused ones. They also are hydrating, full of antioxidants and heal inflammation. Furthermore, they are stimulating to the senses to keep you alert.
You may want to change heavier moisturizers for lightweight oil-free formulas that won’t clog the pores. A little shine is fine because that glossy cast to the skin is in for summer makeup. For your body, try a whipped cream body lotion that in mousse can feel more featherweight against the skin is another of these summer beauty tips.
Less Is More When It Comes to Cool Summer Makeup
If you feel naked without a full face of makeup, then try a tinted moisturizer, BB or CC cream, or a powder foundation as your base as well as less products. While beautifying your complexion, these products can give you great coverage, nourish and protect the skin at the same time.
Summer is when you want to have fun and speed up your makeup to take advantage of cool summer beauty. What I consider essential is also a full-coverage concealer that won’t migrate such as waterproof formulas of that product and mascara. Unlike liquid versions, these tend to stay more put than traveling into creases. Powdered blush or bronzer is something else that I can’t go without besides a bright pop of color through a soothing lip balm.
When I want to go more out and work on my eyes, I reach for my eye primer or stick to waterproof cream eye shadow and eyeliner formulas. To play off sun-kissed skin, I find gold or champagne metallic shades or rosy colors are ones that give the face more of a striking glow.
Those like me with thick, dry or curly hair often rely a lot on hair oils. However, my hair could still feel dry and not as soft as I liked until I discovered why. I found that you could boost the effectiveness of a hair oil by never skipping your leave-in hair conditioner. This trick really helps especially if you tend to use hair oil more on the ends of your hair. When you use both together, your hair is softer and shines more than either alone. It also becomes more manageable.
Hopefully, these summer beauty tips can keep your skin and makeup looking great to give you even more confidence!
